Moroccan Kickboxer Wail Karroumi Set for ONE Championship Debut this Friday

Rabat – Moroccan fighter Wail Karroumi is set to make his ONE Championship debut this Friday at the organization’s martial arts show, ONE Friday Fights 29.   Karroumi will face Russian Elbrus Osmanov in a Bantamweight Kickboxing fight inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 29-year-old Moroccan has fought in several organizations around the world, such as Dutch martial arts organization Enfusion, where he picked up three wins and two defeats. 

Karroumi also recently joined the famous Tiger Muay Thai gym in Thailand where he is training ahead of his anticipated ONE Championship debut.

Karroumi’s opponent, 22-year-old Osmanov, has won two out of his two fights in ONE Championship, beating Paedsanlek PK Saenchai via knockout on his debut before scoring another victory against Kaonar Sor Jor Tongprajin on June 2.

Karroumi is the third Moroccan fighter to feature in ONE Championship’s weekly fight series, ONE Friday Fights, after Ilias Ennahachi had picked up a win against Iran’s Alisaghar Ghodratisaraskan at ONE Friday Fights 6. Mohammed Boutasaa had also lost to Iran’s Mohammed Siasarani at ONE Friday Fights 18.

ONE Friday Fights is a series of weekly shows that take place every Friday afternoon, starting at 1:30 PM in Morocco time. It is broadcast live on BeIN Sports in the MENA region.  

ONE Championship, whose shows include fights in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts and Submission Grappling, features several Moroccan stars, including ONE Strawweight Muay Thai champion, Joseph Lasiri.  

Based in Singapore, ONE Championship was founded in 2011 by Thai entrepreneur Chatri Sityodtong, who currently serves as the organization’s CEO and Chairman. It includes martial artists from more than 80 countries and broadcasts shows in more than 190 countries around the world.
