PayHalal Expands to Middle East and North Africa Region

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — PayHalal, Malaysia’s first Shariah compliant payment service provider, announced that it will soon be expanding to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Further details will be revealed once commercial agreements have been finalised, it said in a statement.

“PayHalal will soon unveil further details regarding its expansion into the MENA region, including strategic partnerships and the range of services it plans to offer,” it said.

PayHalal group chief executive officer (CEO) Pat Salam Thevarajah said that the interest gathered from MENA stakeholders is a testament to PayHalal’s reputation as a trusted and innovative provider of merchant acquiring and payment gateway solutions.

“We are delighted to expand our global presence into this dynamic market and look forward to collaborating with our partners to deliver seamless and secure payment experiences for businesses and consumers in the MENA region,” he said.

Partnering with local stakeholders in the region will allow PayHalal to cater to the needs of customers and businesses there, it added.

PayHalal was started in 2017 by corporate lawyer Indrawathi Selvarajah, who was drawn to Islamic fintech because of its ethical financial system.

It began offering customisation and embedded Islamic finance to customers earlier this year to redefine customer expectations and deliver targeted services tailored based on users’ data.
