Dubai retained its top spot in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and sixth place globally on the World’s Best Cities Index, which is published annually by Resonance Consultancy, a Canadian firm that conducts research and consulting on cities and destinations around the world.
According to the results of the 2024 World’s Best Cities Index, which was released yesterday, Dubai maintained its regional ranking from last year’s index.
In the report accompanying the index results, Resonance Consultancy described Dubai as “the Las Vegas of the Arabs,” and a place that is proud of changing the way people think about the Middle East.
The report also mentioned that Dubai is known for its unconventional architectural projects, such as Palm Jumeirah, which includes Atlantis, The Palm hotel, and the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
The report added that Dubai has made a hobby of breaking world records in recent years, with it always having the highest, longest, fastest, largest, and so on.
The report explained that it is no wonder that Dubai ranks eighth globally in the sub-index for attractive tourist destinations within the main index, as it is home to a wide variety of tourist destinations, including shopping malls, giant aquariums, indoor ski resorts, dancing fountains, amusement parks and water parks, and many family-friendly resorts.
The report confirmed that Dubai meets the needs of all visitors, and it stated that the total number of hotel rooms in Dubai currently exceeds 150,000, and is expected to surpass the number of hotel rooms in major and historic cities, such as London and New York, meaning that the hotel and hospitality sector in Dubai is strongly positioned for a period of greatness and luxury.
Dubai outperformed San Francisco, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Seoul, which came in the seventh to tenth places, respectively.
London, Paris, and New York retained the top three spots on the index for the third consecutive year, while Tokyo retained the fourth spot for the second consecutive year, and Singapore took fifth place this year.
The report concluded its discussion of Dubai by pointing out that its focus is currently on the “Dubai 2040 Urban Plan,” which aims to enable residents of the city to reach 80% of their daily needs and destinations within just 20 minutes, either on foot or by bicycle, which will strengthen their sense of belonging to this global city.
Dubai scored particularly well in the sub-indices for quality of life, culture and entertainment, and business environment.
The city is also home to a diverse population of over 200 nationalities, which contributes to its vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Dubai is a major hub for business and finance, and it is also a popular destination for tourists from around the world.
The report’s findings suggest that Dubai is a leading global city that is well-positioned for continued success in the years to come.
