Boeing has confirmed the order issued by Morocco’s flag-carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) for two 787-9 Dreamliners as the airline company is enhancing its fleet to meet a growing demand.
The confirmation was announced by the U.S. aircraft manufacturer in a press release issued Monday.
“The 787 Dreamliner is perfectly suited to support Royal Air Maroc’s growth and modernization plans,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice-Pdt of Commercial Sales and Marketing.
“Boeing’s relationship with the Moroccan airline spans more than five decades, and we look forward to more opportunities to strengthen our partnership with RAM,” he added.
“The two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will enable Royal Air Maroc to expand in the short-term its long-haul network in response to the highly favorable market conditions in 2023,” said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of RAM, noting that the company is actively pursuing a significant tender to quadruple the fleet before 2037.
The Moroccan carrier, which operates currently nine Dreamliners, flies to 82 destinations in 41 territories around the world, including frequent departures to the biggest capitals in Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East. Its fleet of Boeing airplanes includes 737s, in addition to 787s.
