Rabat – Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), announced on Tuesday a partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) to “showcase the magic of the country” to the global audience.
Wego’s platform will enable travelers from across the world to “explore Morocco’s hidden gems through immersive virtual experiences, curated itineraries, and tailored suggestions that cater to their unique preferences,” said the company in a press release.
The partnership between Wego and ONMT will help boost Morocco’s tourism industry and amplify its appeal as a vibrant and diverse travel destination.
Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director of Wego for MENA and India, Mamoun Hmedan, expressed excitement about the new partnership, saying: “We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office.”
He underlined that the collaboration is set to “inspire and captivate travelers globally, drawing them towards the wonders of Morocco.”
Wego has observed an impressive 39% increase in searches for the country on its platform compared to the same period last year, with over 2 million searches recorded thus far, he noted.
“We look forward to establishing a long-lasting relationship with the ONMT,” Hmedan added.
The statement further highlighted Morocco’s tourism assets and diverse ranges of experiences that cater to all types of travelers, making it an ideal summer destination.
“For history and culture enthusiasts, exploring the ancient medinas of cities like Marrakech and Fes is a must,” said the statement, highlighting the cities’ “bustling souks, stunning architectural masterpieces, and historical sites.”
Meanwhile, nature lovers can embark on unforgettable journeys to the Sahara desert, “where they can experience the magic of camel trekking, spend a night under the starry desert sky, and witness mesmerizing sunsets over the golden dunes,” added the statement.
In addition, Wego spotlighted coastal towns like Essaouira and Agadir as a haven for beachgoers, offering “pristine sandy beaches,” water sports opportunities, and a chance to savor delicious seafood.
