AFCON Qualifier: Morocco Announces Lineup for South Africa Game

Although the Atlas Lions have already secured a spot in AFCON, they will look to regain some form following a goalless draw with Cape Verde.

Rabat – The Moroccan national football team’s head coach Walid Regragui has announced the team’s lineup ahead of their match against South Africa, which is part of the qualifiers for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Mohammed El Kajoui will be the goalkeeper in the game, with Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, Nayef Aguerd, and Ghanem Saiss taking charge of the formation’s backline.

In midfield, Youssef Maleh will be playing alongside Imran Louza and Hakim Zitech, with Zakaria Aboukhlal, Youssef En-Nesyri and Oussama El Idrissi playing as forwards.

Yassine Bounou, Jawad El Yamiq, Abderrazak Hamdallah, and Abdelhamid Sabiri were not named among the starting 11, and will instead be in the substitutes’ bench.

Although Morocco has already secured qualification to the AFCON, the Atlas lions will be looking to regain some form after goalless draws in the squad’s last two friendlies.

Morocco has been able to get the better of South Africa in recent years, winning both of their latest encounters since 2019.

Kick-off will be at the FNB Stadium at 4 p.m. Moroccan time. Audiences will be able to watch the game on beIN Sports HD 4 and beIN Sports 1 FR, as the sports channel network is the sole rights holder of the qualifiers.
