LIV Golfer Brutally Honest About PGA Tour Return

A year after he said that on Netflix’s Full Swing, Pereia had an epic meltdown at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Soon after, he watched as good friend Joaquin Niemann left for LIV Golf and now he has followed him there as well.

The Chilean golfer told reporters that he has no regrets about leaving the PGA Tour in spite of his previous comments.

“It’s fine for me,” Pereira said Wednesday. “I feel good with this decision. The PGA is a great tour. I got my dream to play on that tour.

“Not winning on the PGA Tour … I still got two majors this year. I can still do it.”

Short of winning the Masters, it looks like his chance to win on the PGA Tour will be over. However, don’t expect Pereria to come back even if things don’t work out at LIV. He also doesn’t see many other LIV Golf players ever returning either.

“I’m thinking we’re never going back,” the 27-year-old said. “Maybe it will happen but that will be the thought that I have.”

It’s understandable why he’d make the move as Pereria’s total earnings on the PGA Tour were $3.7 million. That’s a number he’s likely to surpass at some point during LIV’s 14-event 2023 season.
