Donor countries reduced humanitarian aid to Tajikistan by almost 12 times

Tajikistan in January 2023 received humanitarian aid in the amount of more than $2.6 million, according to the country’s statistical office.

This is almost 12 times less than the cost of assistance provided to the republic in January last year – about $30.4 million.

In January of this year, humanitarian aid came from 19 countries of the world, while in the same month of 2022, 26 countries of the world provided assistance to the republic.

Denmark (4.7%), Germany (3.8%), the Netherlands and South Korea (3.7% each), Mexico (2.7%), Russia (2%), Barbados (19%) also have a relatively large share. %), Kazakhstan (1.4%), Norway (1.1%).

Recall that in 2022 Tajikistan received an unprecedentedly large amount of humanitarian assistance, the total cost of which amounted to about $141 million.

For comparison, the total cost of humanitarian assistance received in 2022 is 2.5 times higher than the grants from international financial organizations planned for 2023 to support the state budget of the country.

Prior to this, the largest aid in terms of cost came to the republic in 2013 – $87.4 million.

The republic received relatively little assistance in 2015 – $44.8 million.
